Wicker Park Fest announces Ted Leo, Cults among first wave of performers

April 29, 2013|By Adam Lukach, @lucheezy | RedEye

Go outside this summer, and you'll have a hard time not running into some street festival, wading through seas of sweaty people and sticky food. This is especially true in Wicker Park, where the creatively named Wicker Park Fest is now the third festival in the last couple weeks from the area to reveal its music lineup.

Neither the Green Fest nor the Do-Division Fest disappointed with their lineups, and the Wicker Park Fest has upped its ante in a similar way, nabbing veteran rocker Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and the adorable throwback duo Cults as two of the headliners for the two-day festival. Rounding out the "first wave" announcement are Man Man, Bahamas and Roky Erickson, and, as the name implies, there will be another "wave" of announcements with more artists to come.

The Wicker Park Fest will be July 27 and 28 this summer on Milwaukee Avenue. Beyond the music, there will, per usual, be art displays and a kids section of the festival so there's more to enjoy. There is no entry fee, but there is a suggested $5 donation.
