JUNE 27 UPDATE: Dimo's Pizza's Wicker Park location is due to celebrate its grand opening on July 24 with $1 slices.

Popular Wrigleyville pizzeria Dimo’s is preparing to open a second larger—and boozier—location on the border of Wicker Park and Bucktown this spring.

The second Dimo’s Pizza will be located inside a new building at 1615 N. Damen Ave., just north of Six Corners. In addition to being three times as large, this location plans to serve booze rather than go BYOB like the original, said founder and CEO Dimitri Syrkin-Nikolau.

“[The new location] a little bit more suited for a liquor license and we have a little bit more space to do that,” said Syrkin-Nikolau. “It was very clear that people are excited about pairing beer with pizza.”

Other features in the works are a salad bar, a raised area to potentially showcase musicians, board game nights and a rooftop garden.

“We have a rooftop … and essentially it’s just wasted space,” Syrkin-Nikolau said. “It will be nice to tell people some of the ingredients were literally grown 10 feet upward.” What exactly will be planted is yet to be finalized, but Dimo’s is working with Sara Gasbarra of Verdura, a local restaurant garden design company, to bring the plan to life.

As for the pizza, the new location will feature slices from Dimo’s current menu, with the addition of Bucktown-specific specials as well as plans to tailor offerings to meet customer demand. “If people end up not wanting a slice, we’ll cut it from the menu,” Syrkin-Nikolau said.
