Shamrock Shuffle sold out

March 15, 2013|By Mick Swasko, @mickswasko | RedEye

If you shuffled your feet registering for this year’s Shamrock 8K, you’re out of luck.

The 40,000-runner capacity for the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K has been reached, organizers announced Friday morning, matching the largest group of registrants in the race’s 34-year history. Registration for the April 7 race opened Dec. 3.

The race begins at 8:30 a.m. April 7. Its course winds through Chicago’s downtown, and concludes with live music in Grant Park. The race is the world’s largest 8K, with more than 90 percent of runners hailing from Chicago and the suburbs, according to organizers.

There’s a limited number of entries available for the race, however, through the race’s charity program. More information can be found at www.shamrockshuffle.com
