You're not dreaming, Bears fans

Christmas, Part I is in the books, can't wait for Part II in a month.

Part I was the Bears signing free agents—my gosh, I got what I asked for! Twice!

I got me a nice, big, sturdy tight end! Martellus Bennett. He can run, catch and block! He's one of those basketball/football combo players. Good, because I really think he should play for the Bulls. With no Derrick Rose, they need all the help they can get.

We also have a nice, All Pro left tackle. Jermon Bushrod. It's not an episode of "The Twilight Zone," this is actually happening!

So, goodbye to Kellen Davis. We will miss the drops but we'll manage. Now, it's making sense. I see it. Marc Trestman and Phil Emery kept their mouths closed the past six weeks, quietly evaluating their own players. Their conclusions? Man, do we stink! Gosh, who thought these players were good? (You know who thought they were good. Thank God they're gone!)

My goodness, what will Jay Cutler do now without any excuses? He's going to have to perform! Uh oh! More accountability! I can't stand it!

That brings us to Christmas, Part II. The draft. Now it's fun. Now Emery can take the best guy there—and I won't be surprised if the best guy is another tight end. Hey, you need at least two! If one is there, grab him!

Worries: Of course. I hear Bushrod is only a little better than J'Marcus Webb. Hey, better is better. I'll take it.

The important thing is we cleanse the team of Jerry Angelo DNA. ASAP.

Now, let's get updated on less important matters. College hoops: Illinois going nowhere, Northwestern going nowhere and looking to hire a new coach to take them nowhere, and DePaul already bounced from the Big East tourney by … Rutgers? They're nowhere.

Baseball: Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone have apparently resolved their differences. A local judge decided one was guilty of being honest, analytical and knowledgeable while the other was guilty of being a doofus homer. Both were sentenced to work with each other this year. Brutal.

Next week we return to regularly scheduled Blackhawks mania.
