Did you get your birthday party invitation? Celebrate the city's 176th birthday at the Chicago History Museum where the American Indian Center will perform a native drum interpretation of "Happy Birthday."
Birthday festivities with musical performances were planned from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the museum located at 1601 N. Clark St., where admission is free Monday to Illinois residents.
Guests can even indulge in a piece of Eli's cheesecake. People who share the city's birthday can receive a special commemorative certificate.
Also in honor of the city's birthday, the Popcorn Factory is making and selling gourmet popcorn in three limited edition flavors of iconic Chicago dishes available until the end of the month online here priced from $9.99 to $44.99. Even the tins have the city's skyline.
Flavors include Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, which is a crunchy corn loaded with tomato-y sauce and tangy mozzarella; Chicago Hot Dog; and Chicago Chocolate Cheesecake. which is sweet white popcorn with vanilla, chocolate drizzle and crumbly chunks of graham crackers.
