Kevin Kelly gives a rundown of the Ring of Honor 11th Anniversary Event in Chicago Ridge

March 01, 2013|Elliott Serrano, for Redeye

We're only a day away from the 11th Anniversary celebration of Ring of Honor Wrestling here in Chicago! The last two days we've had competitors reflecting on what the event means to them and what to expect. First came the Zombie Princess Jimmy Jacobs and his controversial remarks about his fellow competitors. He ruffled a few feathers, to say the least. Then came the ROH TV Champ, Adam Cole,  with words for former WWE/TNA star Matt Hardy. What he said was...uh...not very nice.

Now, courtesy of Ring of Honor, we have Kevin Kelly with a rundown of the matches that will be taking place at the iPPV this Saturday:

ROH World Championship
Kevin Steen (Champion) vs Jay Lethal

Back in October, Kevin Steen defended the ROH World title against Jay Lethal in Rahway, New Jersey, just minutes from Jay’s hometown. With Lethal’s family in attendance and Jay’s mom and dad at ringside, Kevin Steen spat on Lethal’s parents, starting a near-riot. Lethal looks for revenge in this rematch and hopes to unseat the dominant champion.

ROH World Tag Team Champions
The Briscoe Brothers (Champions) vs Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly

Mark and Jay Briscoe became champions for the 8th time in December. Fish and O’Reilly, known as reDRagon, earned this title match in a Tag Team Gauntlet match on ROH TV. TheBriscoes are known as “Dem Boys” and hail from Sandy Fork (by God), Delaware. Fish and O’Reilly train in MMA, ju-jitsu and boxing, in addition to wrestling.

ROH World Television Championship
Adam Cole (Champion) vs Matt Taven with Truth Martini

Adam Cole has been one of the hottest young stars in pro wrestling, while Taven just captured the Top Prospect tournament to earn this title match. Controversial manager Truth Martini signed Taven and this will be a great, high-flying match.

No Holds Barred
“Outlaw” Charlie Haas vs BJ Whitmer

Haas nearly ended Whitmer’s career back in December at Final Battle by putting him head-first through a table. Then they fought at a promotional appearance at a suburban Baltimore car dealership, destroying a car in the process. Haas is vulgar and crude. Whitmer is tough and fights with the best of them.

American Wolves vs Forever Hooligans

Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards are the American Wolves. Rocky Romero and Alex Koslov are Forever Hooligans. This is a dream tag team match that has wrestling fans from all over the world awaiting the results. Richards and Romero used to be tag team partners in ROH and Japan.

Steve Corino and Jimmy Jacobs vs Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander

Corino and Jacobs are known as SCUM while Coleman and Alexander fight with honor for ROH. Corino and Jacobs are former tag team champions and got the best of their challengers recently on ROH TV

Six Man Scramble
QT Marshall vs. Adam Page vs. Silas Young vs. Mike Sydal vs. ACH vs. Tadarius Thomas

Six of the participants in the Top Prospect tournament look for redemption in one of the wildest matches in ROH. The wrestling will be wild and out-of-control. Page and Marshall make their Chicago debuts.
