As a dog, I can really relate to soccer, especially the parts where you run and can't use your hands. Speaking of which, let's see these guys eat every meal using only their teeth—then I'll be REALLY impressed. Anyway, I won't hold that against them in my Fire predictions for 2013. The team kicks off its MLS season Sunday at defending champion Los Angeles.

First celebrity sighting

Snoop Dogg

You know I love his canine nomenclature. Besides that, he's buddies with David Beckham, he's an official spokesman for "FIFA Soccer 13" and he considered investing in a Scottish soccer club. I figure he shows up for the Galaxy's home opener.

First tie

April 14 vs. Houston

The Men in Red played the Dynamo to a draw twice last season, and that trend will continue at least one more game. Of course, Houston got the upper hand in the playoffs. Grrrrr.

First goal

Chris Rolfe

Again, not really a secret here considering he's probably related to my favorite Muppet, Rowlfe the dog. Chris Rolfe also was the 2012 club MVP with eight goals and three assists. Yep, he'll pick up where he left off.

First win

March 9 vs. New England

I'll avoid the easy pun about this rivalry revving up this season. Dammit! Sorry about that. Suffice it to say the Revolution will have a tough time in front of Section 8 in the Fire's home opener.

MVP

Sean Johnson

The goalkeeper was third in MLS in 2012 with 108 saves, and he spent the offseason training with the U.S. national team. Getting a shot past this guy is like sneaking food past me. It can be done, but not without a serious struggle.

First yellow card

Austin Berry

Well, it's gotta be someone. We're not picking on the reigning MLS Rookie of the Year, either. We just figure the refs will see this aggressive defender as playing too rough, when he's really just protecting his turf. My kind of guy.
