DePaul University students have spoken, and thanks to their votes, comedians Hannibal Buress and Amy Schumer will co-headline this year's Big Comic event, which takes place Monday night at the university's Merle Reskin Theatre.
Hannibal Buress, a comic from Chicago who now lives in New York, and Amy Schumer, who was a finalist in the NBC show "Last Comic Standing" and has appeared in shows such as "30 Rock" and "Louie," were selected based on a DePaul Activities Board student conducted during the fall quarter.
According to Tanya Vandermoon from DePaul's student activities office, the Big Comic event has been a signature student event since 2001 and has featured past performances from comics including Bill Maher, Seth Meyers, Aziz Ansari and Jo Koy.
DePaul students can attend the show at the theater, 60 E. Balbo, for free. Non-DePaul students and other external guests can buy tickets for $5. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 7:30.
Northwestern University also will be hosting a well-known comic on campus this week. Actor and comedian B.J. Novak of "The Office" and "The Mindy Project" will visit Northwestern on Saturday at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall as part of the student entertainment organization A&O Productions' speaker series.
Tickets to see Novak are $10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. For information or tickets, visit A&O's website here. Tickets are reserved for Northwestern students and the NU community.
