If you plan on going to the South Side Irish Parade next month, beware that fines for drinking in the street have doubled.

The City Council on Wednesday approved the ordinance that increased the fines to a range of $500 to $1,000 for drinking in the public way and public urination or defecation while within 800 feet of a parade in progress.

Any minor who gets busted for being intoxicated within 800 feet of a parade will be fined $500 or required to do 25 hours of community service.

The ordinance will not apply to licensed sidewalk cafes.
