With their blistering start, the Blackhawks have the feel of a Stanley Cup contender. Here's how other Chicago teams started in championship seasons.
2005 WHITE SOX
Started: 16-4
Finished: 99-63
The Sox made a habit of winning series early in the season and led the AL Central from Day 1. They struggled in September, but what matters is they went 11-1 in the postseason. Boom.
1996-97 BULLS
Started: 12-0
Finished: 69-13
Believe it or not, the Bulls' best start without a loss was not the year they won an NBA-record 72 games. That would be the next season, when they won "only" 69. Underachieve much, guys?
1985 BEARS
Started: 12-0
Finished: 15-1
Most Bears fans have every detail of this Super season memorized. That includes the only loss, in Miami on a Monday night. Bleeping Dolphins!
1908 CUBS
Started: 3-0
Finished: 99-55
Not that any non-vampire remembers, but the 1908 Cubs swept their opening series in Cincinnati. So if they win their first three in 2013 in Pittsburgh, a World Series title is a done deal. (OK, stop laughing now.)
