Wing fans, mark your calendars: The details for Wingfest 2013 have been announced.

The 14th annual wing-tasting competition is slated for 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Bailey Auditorium (1340 W. Washington St.). General admission tickets are $25 and include wings from an estimated 25 vendors, which attendees are encouraged to sample and vote for their favorites. VIP tickets ($55) include drinks, parking, access to a VIP area and a swag bag. The event is 21 and up and tickets are now on sale at wingfest.net.

At the 2012 event, Gold Coast bar Jake Melnick's won in the hot wing category, while South Loop hangout Reggie's took first place in the barbecue category. Bucktown bar Cans took first in the exotic wings category. Gators Wing Shack in northwest suburban Palatine won both the mild category as well as the "Best of the Fest" award.

Participating bars and restaurants are being announced by the event organizers on a rolling basis. Entrants revealed thus far include South Loop Club, Gators, Reggie's, Buffalo Wings & Rings and The Cubby Bear. Lin Brehmer of 93XRT returns as host and bands such as the Chicago Redhots and Cadillac Dave. Proceeds from the event benefit Chicago Neighbors United.
