If your New Year's resolution is to lose weight, don't rush to sign up for a gym membership just yet.

For one week - Jan. 7 through Jan. 13 - you can try out one of the Chicago Park District's 71 fitness centers for free, according to a news release.

That means, gym rats can run on the treadmills, swim laps in the pool and take fitness classes including yoga, Pilates and kickboxing.

After the free week, people can sign up for memberships. Depending on the fitness center, most monthly memberships cost $17, three-month memberships cost $45, and yearly are pegged at $150.
