OCTAVARIUS CLOSES RUN WITH "LORD OF THE RINGS" HOLIDAY COMEDY TRILOGY
CHICAGO – After over three years and seventy-five headline shows, Octavarius will close their run with an epic trilogy of “Lord of the Rings” themed holiday comedy shows. Octavarius, the first independent company to host an open-ended run at the 130-seat ComedySportz Theatre (929 W. Belmont Ave.), will continue to perform their unique blend of improv, sketch and music through December 30th. Each Sunday at 7pm, the group with employ a different theme, ending in the three-show holiday spectacular.
"We've had an incredible run at The ComedySportz Theatre. The success of our live shows makes us confident about our next steps in 2013 to take the group on tour and focus on video production," says Octavarius President, Marc Muszynski.
The following is a list of upcoming shows:
December 9 – Octavarius: The End of the World
December 16, 23, 30 – Octavarius: The Lord of the Rings Holiday Trilogy
Tickets are $10, but audience members who dress for the theme receive tickets at a discounted rate of $7.
In the current age of interactive media and entertainment, you've gotta hand it to improv groups like Octavarius for pushing the envelope and figuring out way to integrate social networking into their act. Just take a look at the web-series "I Made America" and how they wove in Twitter and Facebook into the narrative.
Now that it looks like they'll be taking the show on the road, I'm looking forward to seeing what they're gonna do next!
