Bears Trivia Challenge, Vol. 11: The solution

November 29, 2012|By Chris Sosa, @redeyesportschi

We put our Twitter followers to the test before every Bears game. At stake: a chance to join our Four Score panel. Enter by 1) Having a right answer, and 2) Following and tweeting @redeyesportschi with your guess by noon Monday with the hashtag #bearschallenge. And by Tuesday, we’ll have as many as four winners!

Here are this week’s question and answer.

Question:

How many 5K races would you have to run to cover the total offensive yards gained in every Bears game last season?

Answer:

Two answers are acceptable. Taking only the Bears offense, they amassed 6,364 yards in 2011, including the preseason. Divide that by 5,468.05, which is the number of yards in a 5K race (remember, those are measured in meters), and you get 1.16 5K races. If you included the Bears’ opponents, they totaled 12,991 yards last season, which amounts to 2.38 5K races.

Rob Bossart (@chirob26) tweeted us with a correct response, so he’ll join the next Four Score panel with his Bears prediction. As many as four winners will be crowned next week, so follow @redeyesportschi for details!
