Top bike company rolls in to Illinois

If you’re a biker, here’s something that’ll get your wheels turning: Wheel and Sprocket, one of the country’s largest bicycle retailers, will be riding in to its first Illinois location early next year.

The 40-year-old company, headed by Chris Kegel, will take the storefront at 1027 David Street in Evanston, previously occupied by Ten 27.  Not coincidentally, Ten 27 was also a bike store. 

Kegel owns the six other locations of the Wisconsin-based company, plus its online venture.  The entire company is based on passion for cycling – Kegel commutes to work on his bike, and the business and its employees remain heavily involved with nearby biking clubs and organizations.
