Ashburn sees 2 homicides in 2 days

Ashburn saw two homicides in two days last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.

A 20-year-old man was shot to death Nov. 7 in the 2400 block of West 79th Street, police said. One day earlier, a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in the 2600 block of West 83rd Street, according to officials.

Ashburn has logged seven homicides so far this year. The Southwest Side community area recorded five homicides last year, RedEye determined.

Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in the last week in Auburn Gresham, South Shore and Roseland, according to police information.

Ten homicides have been logged so far this month. Thirty-nine homicides were logged in November 2011, according to RedEye data.
