Anyone who has spent any amount of time applying for jobs in their life knows how much of a time-consuming, stressful and often soul-crushing time the application process can be. An endless series of awkward blind dates sounds more appealing than writing a series of cover letters--at least on blind dates you don't have to worry about striking the perfect balance between sounding professional and human or coming up with a list of references to hand someone at the end of the date.

Job fairs are supposed to take some of the stress out of the process. There's a lot to be said about having the opportunity to introduce yourself to future employers in real life instead of just via e-mail. There's  only so much you can say in an e-mail to convince a human resources employee that you are a friendly, hardworking human being and not a desperate, job-seeking robot. (Everyone worries about this stuff, right?)

So listen up, current Chicago students-- here are a few upcoming job fairs at Chicago universities where you can practice your in-person professional skills. Make sure to dress professionally and bring copies of your resume to show off to potential employers. Fairs are open to only university students and alumni unless otherwise noted.
