EAT

Birthday Burger

Custom House Tavern 500 S. Dearborn St. 312-523-0200

For its seventh anniversary, the South Loop spot offers an 8-ounce burger made from chuck roll and short rib on a homemade brioche bun for $5. Want fries with that? Add a small or large order for $3 or $6, respectively. 5-10 p.m.

Nibble, Sip and Carve

The Boundary 1932 W. Division St. 773-278-1919

Treat your inner kid to a free build-your-own candy apple bar and treat your inner grown-up to $6 Smuttynose Pumpkin and Post Road Pumpkin beers. Then, treat your inner artist—or your inner slasher—to a carving party, where $5 gets you a pumpkin to decorate and take home. 4-10 p.m. No cover.

DRINK

What's the Word?

Town Hall Pub 3340 N. Halsted St. 773-472-4405

The folks behind monthly LGBT series Word Is Out aim to give you chills—which you can chase away with $4 bourbon apple cider and $5 vanilla vodka hot chocolate—and laughs with their Halloween-themed "Are You Afraid of the Dork?" show featuring stories by horror author Adam McOmber ("The White Forest"), OutLoud Chicago founder Adam Guerino and writers Jessica Neria and Cody Ingersoll Cranch. 8 p.m. $5.

National Pastime

Scofflaw 3201 W. Armitage Ave. 773-252-9700

As part of its Fan Fiction series, the bar pays tribute to six favorite watering holes around the country with $10 cocktails including a North Shore #11-based Bittersweet Symphony from Portland's Clyde Common and a Cruzan Blackstrap rum-based The Getaway from D.C. bar The Columbia Room. Partial proceeds benefit each featured bar's chosen charity. 5 p.m.-2 a.m. No cover.

DO

20 Years of Fabulous

Sidetrack3349 N. Halsted St. 773-477-9189

Break out your go-go boots and a bed sheet for the 20th anniversary of Night of 100 Drag Queens, a benefit for Equality Illinois which features a Goddess A-Go-Go theme with humorous tributes to ancient Greece and Rome by 30 drag performers. The recommended evening wear is—you guessed it—a goddess or gladiator toga. 8 p.m. $10-$25. Tickets: sidetrackchicago.com.
