Local winners have a chance at stardom

October 15, 2012|By Zara Husaini @zarhus | For RedEye

Two Chicago area residents have been selected as winners of the Cannon’s Project Imaginat10n competition.

David Pavlina from Lake Zurich and Adam Johnson from Lombard were chosen in the contest's “backstory” and “setting” categories, respectively.

The contest has nine categories, and director Ron Howard (with the help of a consumer vote) has chosen 91 winners total. That number will eventually be whittled down to 10--one winner for each category, plus an additional photo about “discovery,” selected by Howard himself.

So what’s in store for Pavlina and Johnson if they make it all the way?  The chance to inspire a brand new film.  The winning photos will be evaluated by a team of celebrities – Eva Longoria, Jamie Foxx, Georgina Chapman, James Murphy and Biz Stone. The celebrities will direct feature films based on the winning photographs.

Winners were chosen from across the country, but our money is on the two Chicago-area contenders.
