Brian Galati--who also runs Uncle Fatty’s Rum Resort in Lincoln Park—plans to open Headquarters (950 W. Wolfram St., 773-665-5660), a new arcade-themed bar Thursday night.
The Lakeview “beercade” will feature a minimum of 37 games. A majority will be upright consoles, while a few tabletop games you can play while seated will also be available. Retro faves such as Centipede, Donkey Kong, Tetris and NBA Jam are all to be expected.
All games will cost 25 cents, but if you cashed in all your coins to do laundry or feed the parking meter, don’t worry: There are plans for a change machine to dispense quarters. The machine will also randomly distribute prizes to patrons via specially branded tokens that entitle bargoers to a free items such as a T-shirt or a round of games.
The space also includes table and bar seating, where patrons can relax and sip on one of 16 draft beers, including varieties from lesser-known Illinois-based breweries such as Naperville-based Solemn Oath and Big Muddy Brewing in Murphysboro, Ill. Craft cocktails are also in the works, though details are to-be-determined.
Galati doesn’t have plans to serve food; however, menus from local delivery spots will be on hand for gamers who want to order grub. And you can get your game fix whenever you’d like: Headquarters will be open 365 days a year, from 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.-3 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Sunday
