Chicago Gourmet goes mobile

Chicago Gourmet comes to the Windy City this weekend, and while we love every delicious minute of it, there’s no denying that events of such a large scale can get chaotic.

Bon Appetit has one practical solution to the inevitable sensory overload that sets in--oh, the minute you enter the massive annual event.

They’ve created a mobile app that gives users the ability to customize the Chicago Gourmet experience. It debuted last year for iPhone users, but this year it’s also available to Android users for the first time.

The app includes a full list of events, an interactive map and a social media center that streams live feeds of Chicago Gourmet’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Guests can also use the app to create personalized “favorites” profiles based on their own preferences, and the app sends out reminder alerts before favorite events begin.

The app also takes some of the guesswork out of choosing events that match up with users’ diet preferences and restrictions. The organizers of Chicago Gourmet have created “Tasting Tours," which break down tastings, seminars and activities by category--such as Asian, Italian, meat lovers, seafood and vegetarian.

The Chicago Gourmet 2012 mobile app is free and available for download through iTunes and Google Play.
