We put our Twitter followers to the test before every Bearsgame. At stake: a chance to join our Four Score panel the following week. This week's winner is: @TheRealBigTom44.
This week's challenge
Question: Assuming everyone has them on (and has the normal amount of limbs), how many boots, hats and gloves are fans wearing in one weekend of sold-out games at every stadium in the NFC North?
Answer: You’re keeping us on our toes with our math, no doubt. This week’s answer could go several ways, so let’s start with the original question and our solution:
The NFC North stadiums are as follows:
Soldier Field: 61,500
Ford Field: 65,000
Lambeau Field: 72,928
Mall of America Field: 64,111
Add those up and you get 263,539 fans. Assuming each fan is wearing two boots, two gloves and one hat, that’s 527,078 boots, 527,078 gloves and 263,539 hats, or 1,317,695 articles of clothing (Whether you tweeted the totals separately or as one, we considered it correct.)
Now, if you use Ford Field’s expanded capacity of 70,000 (which, to be fair, we did not specify), you get 1,342,695 articles of clothing, so we also will consider that correct.
We’ll pose Volume 3 of our challenge, both in print and at redeyechicago.com, on Friday—which represents your next chance to win! Follow and tweet @redeyesportschi for details.
