The kosher-style deli offers a special dine-in and take-out Rosh Hashanah menu featuring favorites like gefilte fish ($7.99), apple kugel ($5.99 per piece), apricot-glazed half-chicken ($7.99) and both traditional and vegetarian chopped liver ($14.99). 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

This contemporary Chinese restaurant hopes you saved room for dessert. For every $25 your table spends on dinner and drinks, you will receive a free dessert (regularly $7). The menu includes almond milk panna cotta, tea and doughnuts, Chinese egg tart, Chocolate Symphony and more. 5-11 p.m.

Head to the Logan Square bar for Fan Fiction, where bartenders from five neighborhood hot spots contribute craft cocktail recipes which you can sample for $10 each—including the rye-based Right Up My Alley by Longman & Eagle's Derek Alexander and mezcal-based Nightlight by Masa Azul's Jenny Kessler—and partial proceeds from the top-selling cocktail benefit the winning bartender's chosen charity. 5 p.m.-2 a.m. No cover.

Chicago history comes to life at this tribute to renowned saxophonist Von Freeman—who played a weekly gig at the New Apartment Lounge for more than 30 years before his passing in August—where Von's brother and guitarist George Freeman, pianist Willie Pickens and others join Von's New Apartment Lounge band for two sets. 8 p.m.-midnight. $15 suggested donation.

Ten monthly competition finalists—including a card shark, social worker and church organist—take the stage at The Moth Chicago GrandSLAM with five-minute, no-notes true stories on the subject of "Fall from Grace."
