At the 48th Chicago International Film Festival (Oct. 11-25), the Centerpiece Film will be "Cloud Atlas," directed and written by native Chicagoans Lana and Andy Wachowski, the siblings who masterminded the "Matrix" trilogy, and and Tom Tykwer.

"We are thrilled to welcome Lana and Andy Wachowski back to their beloved hometown," Michael Kutza, Founder and Artistic Director of the Chicago International Film Festival, said in a press release. "'Cloud Atlas' promises to be one of the most imaginative and dazzling movies of the year."

The movie, which is based on the novel by David Mitchell, will be screened at 7p.m. ct. 17 at the AMC River East 21. It features a huge cast including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant and Hugo Weaving. The plot is on a similarly epic scale, covering huge amounts of time and many different people, so each of the actors plays multiple roles throughout the film.

"Cloud Atlas" will receive a wide release on Oct. 26.
