Don't fear, fans of summer: There is still some warm weather and plenty of festivals to take in before the season's official send-off. The Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival in Rogers Park and Northside Summerfest in North Center are just two reasons to get out this weekend and enjoy the last weeks of summer 2012.

What to expect: A Friday night party with live music on one stage from The Mudflapps and Whiskey for Jesus will kick-off this festival celebrating its 11th anniversary. On Saturday and Sunday, more than 40 musical acts will take to three outdoor stages as an expected crowd of 10,000 files in for theater, food and drinks on the cobblestone streets of the Glenwood Avenue Arts District, known for its artist studios, music venues and restaurants.

Highlight: A hallmark of this street art fair is its outdoor and indoor art displays that will feature exhibitions from more than 100 artist-vendors.

Highlight: Hot dogs! Dubbed "Chicago's Hot Dog Festival," this year's fest is all about the essential summer snack, with local spots including Chubby Wieners and Chicago's Dog House dishing out their best interpretation of the classic dog, plus an amateur hot dog-eating contest on Sunday for those with seriously big appetites.
