A recent report from the U.S. Public Interest Research Group Education Fund and the Frontier Group environmental think tank found that people ages 16 to 34 are driving less. That got us at RedEye thinking: Is it worth it to have a car in Chicago with plentiful public transit and a bike-friendly reputation?
I know it's not necessarily "cool" to say you drive around Chicago instead of bike or take the CTA. But, I have to ask--have you ever biked or taken the CTA? Talk about soul-sucking experiences. Besides that, I don't care about being cool. I'm perfectly happy hopping in my car, with its bumper scratched beyond belief, and getting where I need to go on my own time. Sure it has its downsides—but how else would I get to and from Target? --Jessica Cantarelli, @RedEyeJessica
