It's been a rough road recently, both for guard Epiphanny Prince and the Chicago Sky, as Prince's broken foot forces her to sit on the sidelines while her team struggles. As she prepares to return, however, Prince gives RedEye an exclusive look at her journey back to health. She wrote this dispatch last week, before Team USA's first game in the Olympics.
Week 5: On the run
Finally, I am running. I've got no love for treadmills, but it feels good to know I can run again. Anybody who has ever been on crutches knows how frustrating it can be to not be able to do something we all usually take for granted.
Next week, I'm told, I can start running on the court. The plan is that I'll be on the floor with my teammates at the start of practice in warm-ups probably three times next week. If my foot is feeling good—and it is right now—I'll be doing guard/forward reps, curls and some extra shooting.
This weekend I'll be helping out at the Sky Elite Camp at Pioneer Park in Arlington Heights. Courtney Vandersloot and I will be running some drills for the kids at the camp. It should be pretty cool.
I'm sure I'll also check out Team USA on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing Swin Cash and Sylvia Fowles do their thing in London.
