Though South Side native rapper Common currently faces foreclosure on his Chicago condo, obviously the hometown favorite isn't in danger of not having somewhere to stay.

Common will be in town Thursday to host an event benefitting those who aren't as fortunate. At 9 p.m. the man behind classic albums such as "Like Water for Chocolate" and "Be" (and films including"Just Wright"and "Date Night") will perform at Metro, with ticket sales going to the Night Ministry, a local organization that, according to a press release, "works to provide housing, healthcare and human connection to members of our community struggling with poverty or homelessness."

Want tickets? Snag them at Virgin Mobile stores (including 2562-64 N. Clark St., where kids from the Night Ministry will perform poetry and songs at 1 p.m. Thursday) after making a $20 donation to the Night Ministry.
