Celtic Crossings (Barry Brecheisen/For RedEye )
When it comes to a place for good pint of Guinness, there’s no shortage of choices in River North. This boozy excursion starts at the corner of Grand Avenue and Clark Street and ends on Hubbard Street to make the most of the ‘hood’s only Irish pub with a late-night license.
Start at Fado (100 W. Grand Ave. 312-836-0066) to catch a game of football (the soccer kind, not the American kind). Few spots in town are as dedicated to the sport as this pub, which airs most major matches.
Next, head to Brehon Pub (731 N. Wells St. 312-642-1071) to split an order of shepherd’s pie with a pal.
For some more sustenance, head south on Wells toward O’Leary’s Public House (541 N. Wells St. 312-661-1306) to pad your stomach with a meal of fish ‘n’ chips.
Walk off those calories as you move to Celtic Crossings (751 N. Clark St. 312-337-1005) just in time to catch some live Irish music, which starts at 10 p.m. on Fridays.
Wanna keep going? Get moving (or grab a cab) back to Hubbard Street, where O’Callaghan’s (29 W. Hubbard St. 312-527-1180) kitchen’s open until 3 a.m. and drinks flow until 5 a.m. on Saturday nights.
