DO

Expose yourself

The Shrine, 2109 S. Wabash Ave. 312-753-5681

Think you—or your vocal group—has what it takes to be the next Yeezy or Chief Keef? Bring your backing music on CD and perform your hip-hop or R&B song at Coup de Exposure and you could win a $500 prize pack. Two music industry reps act as judges with the crowd as a potential tiebreaker. 8 p.m.-2 a.m. $20 to perform; $10 to attend (21+).

Lit fix (free!)

Book Cellar, 4736 N. Lincoln Ave. 773-293-2665

At the Essay Fiesta reading series, local writers and comedians Jen Bosworth, Paul Luikart, Patrick Gill, Mary Lorenz and Write Club founder Ian Belknap take the stage with humorous tales. Get in on the action with a raffle that benefits literacy organization 826CHI. 7 p.m.
