Get crispy

Socca, 3301 N. Clark St. 773-248-1155

Step out of the heat and into the bar area for one of five signature pizzettes—personal-sized crispy flatbread-style pizzas—including shrimp with heirloom tomato, basil, chili flake and two cheeses. Try the Smoge, a cheeseless pie with curried chickpeas, spinach and red sauce (regularly $9-$12). 5-7 p.m. $5 each.

Slurp it

Chicago Q, 1160 N. Dearborn St. 312-642-1160

Head to the patio for a smoked oyster party featuring chilled oysters prepared in the restaurant's 1,000-pound Southern Pride barbecue smokers. Want variety? Try Oysters Rockefeller (with bacon, braised greens and panko) and Oysters Ceviche (with fresh lime juice and salsa). 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. $2.25 each.

DRINK

The skinny on cocktails

Ra Sushi, 1139 N. State St. 312-274-0011

Cocktails get skinny at this Gold Coast restaurant with three refreshing new options under 200 calories, including a Strawberry Saketini (Svedka Citron, Nigori sake, strawberry puree and lemon juice; $9) that you can pair with summer menu offerings such as five varieties of crispy Asian tacos ($7.50-$9.25). 11 a.m.-midnight.

DO

Red, white and blast

UP Comedy Club, 230 W. North Ave., third floor 312-662-4562

Ready for a patriotic hangover? Head to this election year-themed revue written by The Second City mainstage cast members Edgar Blackmon and Katie Rich with Ross Bryant. It's called "One Nation Under 1% or This Show Is Not Going to Solve Anything but Neither is the Election, So Let's Just Laugh About Both & Drink." 8 p.m. $25.

Let's talk about sex

A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells St. 312-943-8722

Get same-day half-price tickets to Soul Theatre's production of Harold Pinter's classic dramedy, "The Lover," in which a couple's attempt to spice up their sex life spins out of control. Stick around for Sex, Yoga & Chocolate, where you sample complimentary sweets from The Fudge Pot and consultant Andrea Klunder offers meditation and yoga tips to spice up your own sex life. 7:30 p.m. $10-$20.

RedEye tip of the day

Through Bastille Day (July 14), get free French fries with a cocktail purchase at Deca Restaurant (160 E. Pearson St.).
