Lit After Dark is a night extension of Printers Row Lit Fest, featuring live music, rap battles, poetry slams, improv actors, literary variety shows, and the like. The lineup features extremely talented and energetic Chicagoans. Lit After Dark is Saturday Night only from 6-10pm. Did I mention that it's free? Because it is.
6pm Essay Fiesta - Its mission is to bring together a cross-section of Chicago's art and writing communities for a night of humorous and poignant personal essays and charity.
6:30pm Encyclopedia Show - Commissions artists and experts to present a monthly verbal encyclopedia entry, cultivating accidental knowledge and irreverent lovingkindness. It is their ongoing mission to chafe against logic and proof, find meaning in obfuscation, and finally wrest truth from fact.
7pm Poetry Slam - Listen as competitive spoken word poetry is performed by five poets and judged by three volunteer audience members
7:30pm MER live acoustic set sponsored by Navy Pier.
8:15pm Half Naked Productions Presents RedEye's Missed Connections - Improv actors perform a twisted journey through life's many missed opportunities and the uncertain paths we take to absolve ourselves of nagging romantic regrets. Performing LIVE missed connections on stage via text message/phone.9:10pm Lyricist Olympics featuring DJ3REEPRO - Freestyle showcase that highlights lyrical dexterity and creative spontaneity. It will be a rap battle/rap cypher event, featuring eight MCs (WHEW!) DJ3hreePO on the ones and twos will close out the evening.
