It might seem hard to believe for some bargoers, but it was a decade ago when Billy Dec, Brad Young and Arturo Gomez of Rockit Ranch Productions opened Rockit Bar & Grill (22 W. Hubbard St. 312-645-6000) in River North. Since it's June 2002 debut, it's grown to become a Hubbard Street staple, and the group went on to expand its presence in the local dining and nightlife scene with late-night club The Underground, Asian restaurant Sunda and a Wrigleyville location of Rockit, which reopened this spring as Rockit Burger Bar.

Instead of celebrating its 10th anniversary with a little R&R, Dec and company are preparing to open yet another venue: Dragon Ranch Moonshine & BBQ, slated to open at 441 N. Clark St. in River North in late June. On the menu, expect American barbecue dishes with Asian influences cooked up by executive chef Red Hauge, who has cooked at restaurants in the Virgin Islands, Alaska and Boston before coming to Chicago. He’ll be assisted by sous chef Shaun Connolly, who has worked locally at restaurants such as Moto, Nightwood and Le Lan.
