Underground speakeasy-style bar coming soon to River North

Untitled is set to open in early June

Ever since Lincoln Park restaurant and cocktail lounge Morso closed for re-concepting, we've been eager to hear where their head bartender, Matthew "Choo" Lipsky (pictured), would land.

The answer is River North. Lipsky will serve as bar manager along with beverage manager Adam Scholten (formerly at Balena) at the soon-to-open speakeasy-styled lounge Untitled.

Located at 111 W. Kinzie St. (former home of a furniture store), the bar will feature a drink menu that includes classic cocktails, craft beer, wine and champagne. In addition, Chef Joseph Heppe (formerly of Mercat a la Planxa) will direct the kitchen with a menu inspired by the Prohibition Era, including a raw bar.

For a "speakeasy," the space should feel anything but quaint, clocking in at 18,000 square feet with a hidden outdoor patio planned along Carroll Street. It'll also feature restaurant space divided in several different rooms, including a "library" with velvet booths and a separate lounge with a 30-foot bar.

In case that's not enough for you, there will be a stage set for daily live performances including big band and jazz bands, burlesque dancers and DJs.

Untitled is scheduled to open in early June. In the meantime, check and @UntitledChicago for updates.
