Randy and Jason Sklar do the impossible with their new History series, "United Stats of America:" They make statistics fun.

In the series, debuting at 9 p.m. Tuesday, the identical twins and stand-up comedians explore their fascination with numbers by traveling the U.S. looking for incredible stories behind statistics. The brothers use fun stunts and experiments to uncover hidden facts about America and Americans in the hopes of showing viewers things they didn't know about themselves.

Did you know Americans collectively waste 4.2 billion hours a year stuck in traffic? Or that in a nation with more than 3.5 million square miles of territory, 99 percent of us are shoehorned into only 8 percent of the land?

One set of stats that caught my eye involved the most deadly animals in America. Snakes, you think? Or sharks? Maybe dogs?

No no, the Sklars tell us. It's deer. "They're like the Kim Jong Il of the animal world," Jason says.
Turns out there are 27 million deer in the U.S., and the odds someone will die in a collision with one are 1 in 28,831. Compare that to the odds of dying from a snake bite (1 in 50 million) or of dying from a dog bite (1 in 120,864) and you get the picture Randy is painting.

"They seem harmless, but given the chance they will destory everything in their path," he cracks in one episode of the series.

Here are a few other fun stats from the show:
900 months Approximate number of months average American male is on Earth
198 months Amount of time average American male watches TV
9 months Amount of time average American male spends in bathroom
2 months Amount of time average American male has sex
5 months Amount of time average American male complains about his boss
5 months Amount of time average American male spends on hold
2.7 days Amount of time average American male spends crying
