Clark and Lake streets

Hop a special trolley at Clark and Lake streets for a Green on the Scene adventure, which includes a stop at Uncommon Ground for gourmet appetizers, a Koval cocktail and a tour of the restaurant's rooftop farm. Then, it's on to Koval Distillery for a tour and spirits tastings plus a souvenir Koval T-shirt and shot glass. 6:30 p.m. $55. RSVP required: cityswarmchicago.com

The green fairy rules at Poetry and Absinthe, which features two bars—one for regular cocktails, one for $9 absinthe drinks. Peter Propaganda kicks off the evening with a poetry open mic and serves up free vegan chili. Then he moves to the turntables, and Shannara Bathory hosts the Tuesday and Absinthe dark dance party. 10 p.m.-4 a.m. No cover.

Playing the ponies

Get prepped for the Kentucky Derby at Pints and Ponies, where a rep from Arlington Park schools you in the finer points of horse racing while you sip $5 drafts, munch $2 tacos and view historic race videos. Occupy dystopia

It's opening night for "Rise of the Numberless," a world premiere glam-rock musical drama by Bailiwick Chicago and The New Colony about a dystopian American society in which families with more than one child must live as fugitives to protect additional illegal offspring. But as this play-within-a-play begins, they join forces to protest. 7:30 p.m. $25-$30.
