The vast majority of festival lineup announcement buzz this week has surrounded Lollapalooza, but don’t forget: summer festival season is a marathon, not a sprint. There’s sure to be a full calendar of festivals with impressive lineups in store for Chicagoans this year and many are beginning to leak information about who will be hitting the stages.
Do Division Festival released its first wave of artists billed for this year’s fest this week. So far, the list includes Le Butcherettes, Antlers, O’Death, Murder By Death, BBU and Mannequin Men.
The lineup channels local, national and even international talent. Garage punk outfit Le Butcherettes—whose debut LP “Sin Sin Sin” was produced by Mars Volta guitar god Omar Rodriguez-Lopez—hail from south of the Mexican border. Rap trio BBU and rockers Mannequin Men round out the current festival lineup as its local acts. However, with three days of live music to fill, expect further additions to the lineup in the coming weeks.
Do Division Street Fest and Sidwalk Sale happens June 1-3. Find it on Division St. between Damen and Ashland. There will be a $5 suggested donation. Visit the festival's website for more information.
