Chicago rockers Vanarays answered our Chi-Tunes questionnaire. Do the same and your band could appear in RedEye!
What makes your live show great?
We play loud and hard--the way it's supposed to be. We also work hard to translate our studio sound to the stage.
Describe your sound in five words or less.
Catchy, loud, schizophrenic pop music.
Tell us something random about the band, and why that's significant.
All the band members are Latinos from the southeast side of Chicago, but we promote our music in a faceless manner. We want people to listen to our music first and ask questions later.
Who would you want to work with, and who would you never work with? Why?
Vanarays would love to work with Danger Mouse, Josh Homme and Outkast. They are all studio wizards that could probably produce the hell out of us.
We believe it is not in our best interest to collaborate with Chris Brown, for ethical reasons.
If the band was a breakfast cereal, what would it be and why?
We would probably be KABOOM cereal. We too are colorful, sweet and affordably priced.
What's the best album you've heard recently?
We're all digging "Rome" by DangerMouse and Daniele Luppi, "El Camino" by the Black Keys and "The Suburbs" by Arcade Fire.
What song do you never want to hear again?
"Roman Holiday" by Nicki Minaj
What is Chicago's best music venue and why?
Reggie's. It's basically rock heaven, and everyone there is awesome.
