Super Bowl Sunday is one of my favorite days of the year.
There's football. There are celebrities. There are funny commercials. There's beer—uh, I mean, water. There's food.
Ahhhh, the food. Among canines, Super Bowl Sunday is among the top table-scraps days of the year, right behind Thanksgiving and that day our humans trip over us after retrieving the pizza from the deliveryman. I didn't mean to be right under your feet, no sir.
The real reason for Super Sunday, of course, is the NFL's title game. This year, we get a treat: the New York Giants vs. the New England Patriots. A rematch of the 2008 game. And a rematch of a game played earlier this season. I'll let you decide if that's a good or bad thing.
What I will do, though, is make some predictions for Sunday's matchup. You will, too, if you are brave enough to challenge me via text. Here's where I remind you I correctly predicted who'd reach the Super Bowl a few weeks ago. Scared yet?
Anyway, let's have at it, shall we.
Here now, my Super Bowl picks.
The Giants beat the Patriots once already this season, 24-20, in Week 9. Eil Manning was the hero, hitting his tight end Jake Ballard with a touchdown pass with 15 seconds left in the game. Sunday's game won't come down to the final seconds. Although I'll be getting seconds—and hopefully thirds and fourths.
WHIZZER'S PREDICTION: Giants 34, Patriots 24
This award is generally reserved for the quarterback, but I'm going out on a limb this year. I'm giving it to Victory Cruz, the breakout receiver who celebrates his touchdowns by doing a salsa dance. Mmmmm, salsa ...
Tom Brady, time for you to toil among mere mortals. Yes, I'm seeing a key interception late in the game when your Patriots were driving for at least a tying field goal. Sorry, bro. Maybe Gisele can console you.
THE WHIZZER CHALLENGE
Can you beat Whizzer's picks? He doesn't think so, but give it a shot. Include your name so Whizzer can give you shoutout.
