"Baseball America 2012 Almanac"

Available Tuesday.

For baseball geeks and fantasy players, this is "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and "Hunger Games" rolled into one. For Chicago baseball fans, however, it might read more like an obituary.

Available Tuesday on DVD, Blu ray.

The movie about Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane starring Brad Pitt and pre-weight-loss Jonah Hill is earning awards buzz.

Marian Hossa's birthday

The Blackhawks winger turns 33 Thursday, and what better way to celebrate than with a goal or two against the Minnesota Wild (7:30 p.m. CSN). Bonus: It's Joel Quenneville bobblehead night.

Bulls on NBA All-Star ballot

The Bulls' starting five (hey, synergy!) are up for consideration for the NBA All-Star Game. And it wouldn't be the Chicago way unless fans voted early and often. Even the deceased ones.

Cubs Convention

Jan. 13-15, Hilton Chicago

With so many comings and goings, fans will likely be asking "who's that?" quite a bit this weekend. Thirty to 40 former and current players are expected to attend. We're guessing a lot of them will be "former."
