Vote: Are personalized jerseys cool or lame?

January 04, 2012

Fans wear their jerseys with pride, whether it's at the game, at the bars or at the office. And even in a sea of them, the die-hards with personalized jerseys are easy to spot. Do you see these fans and think "what a waste of money" or "how cool would my name look on the back?" RedEye tackles these questions in this round of Go Nuts!

Cool

I am a fan, my personalized jersey says. A very serious fan with disposable income, a fan who would like you to know I am a very serious fan with disposable income. Seem crazy? Well, how much did you spend on fantasy football last year? How much did you spend on playoff tickets, on satellite TV football packages, on beer at the bar where you watch the game? Ahem. I rest my case.

Lame

Oh, I'm sorry "Diesel," I didn't know you were a former player for this team! Oh, and who's this next to you? "Big Daddy"? Well, he certainly is big. Oh, and his number is 69? And that's on purpose? Wonderful! And the gent next to you has enough disposable income to blow $150 on a personalized jersey that just says "Champs" even though this team hasn't won since the Ford administration? Boy oh boy, I'm pumped to be sitting here. Long story short, personalized jerseys are an abomination to all that is sport. Stop embarrassing yourself.
