Remember when Britney Spears shaved her head? Or when she was married for 55 hours? Or when she was a slave 4 U? Yeah, that wasn't the Brit of 2011. Our former teen queen friend came back in a big way, and to our surprise, we couldn't be happier for her. Check out the year in Spears.

After she broke up with Justin Timberlake, we began questioning Britney's taste in the mens. Kevin Federline? Ew. That Jason Alexander dude? Tool. But this Jason Trawick guy, who used to be her manager, seems like he's actually tamed the wild Spears. Let's hope this one works out.
She's No. 1! She's No. 1! Katy Perry may have been busy trying to break Michael Jackson's records, but Brit quietly tied Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey for third-most No. 1 albums. Her sixth chart-topper, "Femme Fatale," sold 276,000 copies in its first week, which sadly in 2011 terms is a ton.
Thirty for 30, baby! MTV celebrated this non-national holiday by hosting a tournament to rank the Top 30 Britney vids. The winner: "I'm A Slave 4 U," which may have had something to do with her pink-thong-outside-jeans look. Shine on, you crazy hick!
The sexiest ... ever!
After remembering the above mentioned head-shaving incident and "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic," we kind of question this decision, but Men's Health has its reasons. The mag named Britney its fourth-sexiest woman of all time. That's ever. In the history of time.
It was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment mostly overshadowed by Jo Calderone, er, Lady Gaga, but Brit picked up a special honor at the MTV Video Music Awards in August. The Video Vanguard award recognized her contributions, from "Baby One More Time" to "Toxic." You also may not remember what happened because, about 40 seconds later, Beyonce whipped out her baby bump.
