It's very intimate, and what you hear is what you get. Sometimes we pull out the circus and use all the instruments we know how to play. And sometimes we strip it down to just the essentials: two voices and a guitar.
Describe your sound in five words or less.
Handcrafted folk-pop tunes.
Tell us something random about the band, and why that's significant.
We are interested in archaic recording technology. Recently we even made a recording to wax cylinder. Our EP was entirely recorded on tape or 8-track. We think the old technology not only gives a nostalgic warmth to the sound, but it's a more honest "record" of the way music is made.
Who would you want to work with, and who would you never work with? Why?
Paul Simon. He's a perfectionist and his sound is exquisite. Justin Timberlake. Then we couldn't date him. Cause we all know that music and romance doesn't mix well.
If the band was a breakfast cereal, what would it be and why?
Frosted Flakes: it's a been-around-forever classic, but every time you take a bite you know why it's stuck around. It's sweet and delicious, but wholesome at the same time.
What's the best album you've heard recently?
I can't get the Blind Pilot album out of my cd player.
What song do you never want to hear again?
"To the Windowwwww....to the wall!!!" for obvious reasons.
What is Chicago's best music venue and why?
Schubas. It's small, intimate and has great sound.
