Here come the (virtual) Bulls

Hey, it's the best we can do until the NBA lockout's over

November 01, 2011|By Ryan Smith, For RedEye

Bulls fans are so upset with the NBA, it's a small wonder there hasn't been an Occupy United Center protest. Recent talks between the owners and the players union to end the lockout broke down last week, prompting commissioner David Stern to cancel this month's entire slate of games.

That means that we don't know when we'll get another chance to see reigning MVP Derrick Rose and his up-and-coming Bulls team take the court again. In the meantime, RedEye decided to take a look into our virtual crystal ball in the form of the video game "NBA 2K12" and simulate each game we'll be missing out on this season.

Bulls 101, Dallas 91

Leading scorer: Keith Bogans, 27 points

Looks like the Bulls want jewelry of their own. Shortly after watching the Mavericks show off their newly acquired bling in the form of NBA title rings in a pregame ceremony, Chicago smacks the defending champs around in a game they lead wire to wire.

Bulls 98, New Orleans 97 (OT)

Player of the game: Derrick Rose: 28 points, 8 assists, 2 blocks

Rose shows why he's the MVP by racking up 18 second-half points and hitting a 3-point shot in Chris Paul's face at the buzzer to send it to overtime. Carlos Boozer seals the deal with six points in OT.

Bulls 87, Atlanta 75

Key stat: The Bulls' 17-2 run in the second quarter

The Bulls open at home in style by dominating one of their rivals from last year's playoffs. Chicago shoots 50 percent from the field and overcomes 35 points from Hawks guard Joe Johnson. The only bad news: Keith Bogans leaves with a back strain and is out one to two weeks.
